Kerry, what a momentous homecoming. The Grieving Daughter finally gets to step off the stage and just be. What a gift to realize that you don’t have to keep performing in hopes of being seen.
I know there’s real grief here, but I also feel so much freedom and relief in your words. I’m celebrating this version of you, the one sitting on the porch, Diet Coke in hand, fully herself. She gets to exist exactly as she is. I know her. I have loved her since I was 6 years old.
Thank you for walking with me on this journey Rach!! You know exactly what it means for The Grieving Daughter to step off the stage and just be. I feel so much freedom in these words so you are picking up what I’m putting down! She has loved you since she can remember!
You have a genuine talent for storytelling and making connections, as every story of yours I’ve read has deeply touched me. I resonate so much with this one, especially as I’m also on a journey to find that inner girl within me—trying to stop performing so I can experience the cherished and necessary connection with my parents. I understand that they didn’t have the models or tools from their childhood to be that for me, and I realize I now need to be that for myself.
This means so much to me Stacie! To be a good storyteller is one of my values….I think because my Dad is a great one. The more you connect with that inner little girl, the more she will feel free to experience the joy that is waiting for you. She is waiting to be seen by YOU and loved by YOU.
