Holiday Reminders
Not Everyone Is Looking Forward To Their Get Together
Reminders for people who will be interacting with emotionally immature family members this week.....
1. You are no longer the powerless child. You have autonomy and you have power now.
2. You no longer lack resources....you have a different level of coping tools, skills and awareness now than you did as a child. You have the ability to notice what is happening inside of you and to take good care of it.
3. If you feel disrespected.....you get to leave. No longer do you have to stay in any spaces where you do not feel safe or respected.
It’s easy to feel your child like parts when you are in the presence of family members that trigger you or disrespect you. But even though you can feel your child parts......you are now an adult.....you can take good care of them like a loving parent would. You can trust your adult Self to make good decisions for you and to advocate for your comfort and safety.
Have a short talk with yourself this morning.....before you walk in that door or before you open that door. Remind you that Self is leading and she will do what it takes to love you well.
